AGame Super Shootout 12U Recap: Playtime Earns New Threads

Playtime Cruised To The Championship

Agame : Playtime raced out to an early lead and went on to defeat Philly Triple Threat 54-35 to win the 12U Championship at the AGame Super Shootout. The Panthers had a balanced scoring attack in their victory.

Top Performers

Boubacar Kamissoko Guard (Playtime)- This kid lived on the fast break. He leaked out several times for uncontested layups. In the half court set he attacked from the wing and used twisting finishes to earn points. He also can be deadly from behind the arc. He had a huge weekend scoring the ball.

JJ Jinwright Guard (Playtime)- This was my first time checking out this kid and I like the tools he possess. He joined Boubacar in being a major problem in transition. I like the wiggle in his game and his ability to finish. I see him moving over to the point guard position.

Lydell Geffard Forward (Playtime)- The developing forward has great size and a soft touch but what really impressed me was the way he threw the outlet pass. Khalil Parker Guard (PTT)-Parker spent the weekend getting into the lane and scoring with the floater. During the semifinals his played helped to send Team Final home. He’s the typical tough Philly guard that makes a living off the dribble drive.

Quinton Clarke Forward (PTT)- Clarke is a hard working forward that does possess some guard skills. For this team though he played the blue collar role by blocking shots, hitting the glass and converting inside. He plays bigger than his size.

What is your biggest challenge?
Starting a new business in some of the toughest trading conditions experienced in recent years. It’s all about cost control.

We are fully budgeted down top to bottom and we are continually looking to reduce costs whether through courier contracts, warehousing or travel. We also employ specialist market brokers to handle our foreign exchange and maximise our return per pound.

How has the retail distribution market changed over the past 12 months?
Margins are certainly tighter. Trade prices of games now fall regularly below the £30 mark as consumer demand, coupled with aggressive pricing from nationals and supermarkets, drive the retail value of games down to low levels.

We’ve also noticed that the shelf life of a new title at release day has now shortened down to two weeks before the price drops. And as the pre-owned market booms, this further drops the retail value. Just two years ago the shelf life of a new release was expected to be six to eight weeks.

How much are pre-owned games a blow to your business?
It clearly has had a knock-on effect. The length of time that a new game can hold its release day price has significantly shortened due to the growth of pre-owned games.

I’m a firm believer in consumer rights and trade-ins have made gaming much more affordable. However, I think we’ll start seeing fewer triple-A releases but greater depth via DLC, as the industry gets used to the pre-owned sector sharing a significant chunk of the market’s revenue.

More publishers will tighten their grip on the value of the content and less so in the disc being sold.

What is your target for the next 12 months?
We hit both our turnover and profit targets for our first financial quarter and achieved month-on-month growth which we look forward to continuing in our second quarter.

Also, we are looking to expand our sales team and open additional warehouse space later in the year.

Agame Academy and Team Anderson Set to Begin 2010-11 Season

With the 2010-11 season getting ready to start, the A-Game Academy, Southern California's premier club baseball organization, is excited to announce several additions to its program that has already produced a multitude of Division 1 and professional players.
This season marks the unveiling of the Agame Academy's new indoor facility, complete with two 80ft. all-purpose tunnels, video analysis system, auxiliary training area, and player homework stations.
"Our goal has been, and will always be, to produce the complete ballplayer on and off the field," stated Charles Chatman, Director of the A-Game Academy. "Our new facility allows players to address every facet of what goes into being a complete ballplayer and student athlete."
The agame.biz Academy is also excited to announce the addition of MLB veteran Keith Ginter. With six seasons of major league experience, Ginter adds a new dimension to the A-Game staff and will handle all of the program's baseball operations and instructional philosophy. Another major addition to the Agames Academy is the College Prep program that will be headed up by former USC Director of Baseball Operations and Cal State Northridge coach Phil Van Horn.

Betting Strategies – Players wager in poker due to many different reasons, some of which include: 1) they feel that they have a stronger current hand than their opponents; 2) they believe that the odds of receiving an additional card(s) are good enough to warrant betting a certain way; 3) given the game’s scenario, a bluffing betting strategy may provide them with an avenue for success. All of these reasons clearly point to a “mental” decision that is made by the player, which by definition, qualifies it as a game of skill.
Bluffing Strategies – A player may consider bluffing to his opponents (this can be in the form of staying in a game, raising the stakes of the game, etc.). Bluffing can be performed by these aforementioned game actions or even by providing physical clues (whether true or false), such as staring, sweating, blinking, smirking, or providing a stone face. These combinations of both mental and physical signals, qualify poker as a game of skill.
Probability of Success – Poker is an extremely mathematical game. For example, in the game of Texas Holdem, there are statistical mathematical probabilities of your chances to win a hand, given your two initial hole cards. Knowing these probabilities, in conjunction with your shown opponent cards and the flop (displayed later in the game), can be instrumental in how you approach the game betting-wise. Clearly, this mental capacity supports poker as a game of skill.
Seating Arrangements – Cognizance of your seating arrangement, relative to the Dealer, plays an important aspect to how you play a given hand. You may be more inclined to stay in a hand, if you are seated closer to the dealer (where you bet later in a round), than if you were to have a seat requiring you to bet first in a round. Again, this cognizance and mental capacity support the fact that poker is a game of skill.
Blind Positions – Cognizance of whether you are part of a small or big blind, may determine whether you stay in a hand or not, and clearly must be factored into your game decision making process. Clearly, this mental capacity points to poker being a game of skill.
Cards in Play – one’s awareness of the cards that have already been put in play in a game, factor into the odds of you getting a certain card or your opponent having a certain hand. Your awareness of this, and your resultant mental approach to the game, strongly supports poker as a skill game.
Understanding your Competition – Certain players exhibit certain characteristics when they play poker. Some players tend to be conservative, while other are extremely aggressive in their mode of play. Still, others tend to bluff in certain scenarios, while other tip off their type of gameplay with physical indicators (sweat, squirming in chair, smirking, etc.). These physical and mental aspects are always factored into the game, and their recognition help contribute to the game’s skill factor.
In summary, we have clearly demonstrated that poker is not strictly a game of chance, but a combination of both chance and skill. Further, the skill elements to the game are plentiful, so it can be concluded that these aspects of the game clearly depict poker to be more of agames of skill than a game of chance.
